Informational Meeting of the Congregation: Sunday April 16th immediately following worship

There will be a brief meeting of the congregation following worship on Sunday April 16th.  The meeting will be in the sanctuary and is scheduled to last about ten minutes. The session has called the meeting to provide the congregation with information about the Master Planning process which we hope to begin late this summer.  There will be an opportunity for members to ask questions about the process.  For more information about the Master Planning Process take time to read the article in this newsletter titled: “Master Planning Process Questions & Answers:”

Welcome to http://www.cpcwf.org

Many members with internet experience recognize the shorthand in the title of this article as an internet address. For those unfamiliar with Web Jargon, we suggest  thinking of it as a computerized electronic street address or telephone number for our church. Anyone who has access to a computer and the internet can type in our address and then be transported to our church's website.

The church has had a website of one kind or another for a couple of years, but only since the new year have we made it available with current content, a clean and unique design, and a dedicated address. We have made sufficient improvements to the site to now encourage its use.

At this website, information about our church is available. Examples include: our weekly schedule, directions to our church, our monthly calendar of events, the Community Call Newsletter, and sermons which are available in text and audio form. The amount of information that we can make available on this site in virtually unlimited and the potential uses are virtually unlimited as well.

What are our goals for this website? Frankly, the goals and objectives of this website have not been seriously discussed or evaluated to date by the leadership or members of the church, but a couple of obvious objectives do seem clear. One, it is a place where members of the church can find information about what is happening at the church and share information with other members 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it is a means of outreach to people in the community and visitors to our community. This site can be used to witness to others about our love for God and to demonstrate that we seek to faithfully proclaim and conform our lives to the faith delivered to us in the Holy Scripture. That witness, with the direction of the Holy Spirit, could be used to invite people into our church and give them encouragement and hope.

So, how are we going to use this new tool? It is a new tool and as such, the technical difficulties are still being worked out. The site is continually being upgraded.  The elements are now in place to start using it. Now is the time to shape it and add to it so that a couple of years from now we will be able to use it confidently as means of communicating God's Word to each other and to non-believers as well.

How can you participate in the development of the http://www.cpcwf.org web site? There are several ways that members can participate in the development of the website, but the most important way is contributing content.  Pictures, articles, stories, links to other useful websites, and announcements essential for communicating information about our church are needed. With websites, space is not an issue, so we can have pages set up for each Sunday School Class, the Choir, the Missions Committee, the Session, the Trustees, and any number of other church groups or activities we have not even thought of yet. The important thing is to contribute content and contribute constructive criticism as well.

If you have ideas, or would like to see web pages developed for our church, or have materials you want posted, you can contact Pastor Tilly or Andrew Thostenson, the "Keeper of the Web" at:

MarkTilly@aol.com  or  atgtet@attglobal.net  respectively.

Of course, you can still contact them via more conventional means—the telephone, the mail, or in person on Sunday's.

Finally, if you have not been to the Community Presbyterian Church website yet, take a test drive by pointing your internet browser to http://www.cpcwf.org

After you look over the site, make sure you bookmark it or add it to your favorites folder so you can easily visit the site in the future.

Where:  Community Presbyterian Church in West Fargo

Time:     10:00-12:30

The Sunday School is asking the Congregation to help out with the Annual Easter Egg Hunt.  They will need individually wrapped candy for the event.  If you can help out with a bag of candy, please have the candy to the church by Sunday April 9th.  We need the support of the Congregation to make this activity work.

If you would like for your child to participate, please sign them up on the sign-up sheet in the Narthex so that we can get an idea of how many children will be participating.

Pot Luck & Pizza

There will be an all Church Pot Luck & Pizza held at West Fargo Community Presbyterian Church on April 9th, following the Worship Service.  Pizza will be provided, but we still need all of the “AWESOME” dishes that everyone always brings.

Tables & Padded Chairs

The Church would like to complete the purchase of the cushioned folding chairs, and add more tables to the Fellowship room. We have located more chairs to finish this project off!  If you would like to contribute money toward the purchase of this project, (each chair is $21 and the tables are $295), please contact Todd Montgomery at 282-6150. Thank you for your support of this project.
