You
Did It Again !
With the help and by
the grace of God you succeeded in meeting the year 2000 financial obligations of
your church. Take a moment to sit
back, give thanks to God and enjoy the satisfaction of an objective achieved.
A
full and detailed report will be presented at the annual meeting of the
congregation which will take place this Sunday, January 14, 2001.
Here
is a snap shot:
Our
cash expenditures for 2000 totaled:
$ 139,153
On
a cash basis, income exceeded expenditures by:
$ 6,180
Come
due during 2001. For example:
Remaining Master Planning Expenses:
$ 3,400
Pew Cushion Project
$ 2,510
This
corrects the mistaken impression that we actually had a significant surplus.
It is also important to note that in addition to obligations incurred
during 2000 which will be payable in 2001 we also received giving which is
restricted in different ways and is not available for current expenses. This
will be discussed and explained more fully in the forthcoming annual report. A
simple summary of these somewhat complex facts is that
while income exceeded expenses by about $6000 and our overall financial
strength (equity) increased by
about 12%, our General fund has shrunk by
17% from $9,068 to $7,569 and our short term debt has more than doubled from
$8,326 to $16,826. Our designated funds account increased nearly fourfold (
184%) from $3,887 to $11,035 and one of our Endowment Funds grew by 55% from
$13,971 to $21,656*.
*(Includes a late 1999 gift posted during 2000 and valued at $2918.75 on 12/31/00)

January 21st. The time
for both of these events will be 7:00 pm. Details
and cost of participation will be discussed at youth group.
There
will be a youth ski trip on February 3rd.
Everyone…youth, adults, and kids are invited to participate.

Also,
a big thank you to everyone who helped deliver baskets at Christmas-time.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN YEARLY REPORT:
The Presbyterian Women have had a busy year. A Spring
Brunch was held, hosted by the Afternoon Circle. It was in the form of a baby
shower for “Teen Mom’s”. We presented Linda Bass with many gifts and baby
quilts made and tied by the Afternoon Circle. She and two of her teen mom’s
told us about their program.
In
the fall we had a very successful Bazaar. We had many craft items, back goods,
white elephant items, and a lunch. We served sandwiches with meat donated by
“Ribs West”.
Thanks
to the congregation of the church we were able to present two elementary schools
in West Fargo with mittens and hats for any of the children that needed them.
On
October 28th five members of PW attended a district cluster meeting
at the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo.
The
PW held their annual Christmas bake sale two Sundays after church in December.
At
the December meeting of the Afternoon Circle, Linda Bass was our guest. At that
time we presented her with five baby quilts that had been made by Edith Peterson
and tied by circle members. We also gave her a check for $500.00 from PW for her
program of Teen Mom’s.
