Master Planning Update

Artist's Rendering of Phase1
The Master Planning Process is now complete. The Session and Trustees are currently considering the feasibility of proceeding with portions of the plan. Phase 1 of the plan would add 30 parking spaces to the west of the church, an expanded narthex, an entrance on the same level as the current parking lot, an elevator, two accessible restrooms on the main floor, two accessible restrooms on the lower level, classrooms, storage space and effect a number of necessary capital repairs and upgrades.
These
changes would make our facility easily accessible to people with disabilities,
more welcoming to visitors, more effective for education, fellowship and worship
and more attractive, inviting and comfortable for all.
The
price tag for Phase 1 is estimated at a breath-taking $420,000. This would be an
extraordinarily ambitious fund raising objective for our congregation. The
Session and Trustees are giving serious and sober thought to its implications.
We
have sought professional counsel as to our fund raising potential and the most
optimistic view is that we could raise about $260,000 over about 3 years.
This presumes that almost all of us would be so committed to making this
project happen that we would be willing to nearly double our normal giving for
each of three years. In addition we
would have to borrow about $315,000 at the beginning of the project.
Following the first three-year capital campaign we would be left with a
mortgage on Phase 1 of about $180,000. After
a decent interval a second three-year campaign would be needed to pay of the
project. A ten-year time frame
seems possible.

CHILDREN’S
RELIGIOUS EDUCATIONAL VIDEO LIBRARY
We are looking for videos Donations of new and used religious videos would be greatly appreciated.
New videos can be given in honor of a special occasion such as births, birthdays, anniversaries, etc; a label will be attached to the video case.
Your old and dusty videos will enrich our library and our children’s religious education. Videos can be dropped off in the office along with a note on whom they are from and whom it is given in honor of.
A list of suggested videos will be posted in the Narthex.
Please call Becky DeJong (281-8122) or Bonnie Thompson (282-0469) with any questions.
