OCTOBER 2000

MASTER PLANNING PROJECT BEGINS !

WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED FOR OCT. 15TH &  25TH !

The Master Planning Project has officially begun.  During the latter part of August the architectural firm of Shultz and Torgerson began a survey of our existing building.  Consultation with staff and committees are currently underway.

TWO VERY IMPORTANT EVENTS HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED IN CONNECTION WITH THIS ENDEAVOR. There will be two Master Planning Workshop during the month of October.  The architects use these workshop to learn what the congregation desires with respect to the building and grounds.  This is your opportunity to express yourself about this congregation’s future at this location and in this building. The vision that emerges from these Master Planning Workshops will be used to guide the work of the architects in developing a Master Plan for the church building and grounds.  The first Master Planning Workshop will take place following worship on Sunday, October 15th. This workshop will include a luncheon.  We will gather as usual for coffee then consult for about 45 minutes and break to serve lunch. Once we have lunch under control we will continue to consult with David Shultz and Amanda Torgerson for about another 45 minutes. We will be focusing on how the building does work, does not work and how we hope it might work for activities associated with worship, fellowship and education. The second Master Planning Workshop will take place at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 25th.  This workshop will begin with 45 minutes of consultation after which we will break for refreshments and then continue for another 45 minutes. Although this workshop will deal with subjects very similar to those dealt with in the first and does represent a “second chance” for those who were unable to make the first workshop, it will also be a refinement and development of what was heard at the previous session.  It would be helpful and appropriate to plan to attend both.  Doing so will help the architects to determine how well they “heard us” during the first session.

It is important that those who care about the future development of this building and its associated grounds be present at one or both of these workshop in order to express themselves.  This is our opportunity to shape the future. The quality of the plan which emerges from the Master Planning Process will be greatly improved by thoughtful and broad participation in these workshops. Please make this a priority.

If you are interested in seeing the fine work that Shultz and Torgerson are capable you might consider attending the organ recital scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday October 1st, at First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead. David and Amanda did the redesign work for the Sanctuary of the Moorhead church.
